The Cherokee County Prairie Coalition materialized out of a cooperative effort on the part of the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors, Cherokee County Conservation Board, Little Sioux Trail System, local prairie enthusiasts, and the landowners and residents along the 3 1/2 mile corridor of Cherokee County Road C-16 located east of the City of Larrabee in the northeast corner of Cherokee County, Iowa.

The C-16 Prairie Reconstruction Project that was responsible for the formation of the Coalition is now underway! The seeding bid has been let and seeding of the prairie grasses and forbs was carried out in June and July of 2003.
